Kalo Gold Holdings conducted rock chip sampling, and it confirmed high-grade gold-silver-copper mineralization is present in Vatu Aurum's Mouta prospect, and also conducted drilling and a geophysical/IP survey.

Kalo Gold Holdings Corp. (KALO:TSX.V) described in a news release the exploration work it has done at its Vatu Aurum gold project in Fiji.

"The progress to date has been very encouraging through multiple concurrent exploration programs, including drilling, geochemical and geophysical," CEO Fred Tejada said in the release.

In terms of drilling, the Canadian exploration company completed two more holes, KGD-03 and KGD-04, in Qiriyaga Hill, the most advanced target on the southern end of the Qiriyaga zone.

Kalo placed hole KGD-03 135 meters (135m) northwest of KGD-01 and drilled it down to 345 meters, making it the deepest hole drilled thus far at Qiriyaga Hill. KGD-01 hit the deepest mineralized breccia zone to date and extended the mineralized zone encountered in KGD-01. As for hole KGD-04, the company placed it in the northern end of the Qiriyaga zone. Results for KGD-03 and KGD-04 are pending.

"From drilling, we continue to test the limits of the Qiriyaga Hill, and stepout drilling has shown strong extensional potential along strike and at depth," Tejada noted.

Kalo conducted rock chip sampling at the Mouta prospect, in the northwest part of the property about 9 km from Qiriyaga Hill. Samples from outcrop confirmed the presence of high-grade gold-silver-copper mineralization, including 6.2 grams per ton (6.2 g/t) gold, 645 g/t silver and 3.12% copper, or 19.318 g/t gold equivalent. Sampling from historical stockpile grab sample showed 3.06 g/t gold, 819 g/t silver and 1.63% copper, or 16.608 g/t gold equivalent.

As for geophysical work, Kalo did an induced polarization survey of the Qiriyaga zone. It highlighted anomalies in the underexplored Vuinubu Ridge and, to a lesser degree, about 200 meters to the east, an area that seems to parallel the Vuinubu Ridge mineralized zone.

"Geophysical programs have shown the potential for a larger system around Vuinubu Ridge, with multiple underexplored and untested targets being identified from initial results," Tejada said.

Now, the geophysical team is surveying Coqeloa, after which it will move to Mouta.
