Grande Portage Resources reported that recently received assay results confirm the expansion of the mineralized zones to the east and at depth at its Herbert Gold Project in S.E. Alaska.

In a news release, gold exploration company Grande Portage Resources Ltd. (GPG:TSX.V; GPTRF:OTCQB; GPB:FSE) announced "the remainder of the assay results from its 2020 drilling program on the Herbert Gold Project in S.E. Alaska."

The firm advised that assays received were from numerous drill holes that targeted four primary areas known as the Goat, Main, Deep Trench and Elusive veins, and intermediate veins the Sleeping Giant, the Main vein's North Strand along with a few additional satellite veins. Grande Portage commented that the drill work completed during 2020 tested both the eastern extents of the known mineralization and included some of the deepest holes drilled so far on the property.

Grande Portage stated that, as it advised previously, drill hole 20H-3 intersected strong mineralization in the Deep Trench vein measuring 51.26 g/t Au over 0.77m. The company noted that the first ever hole drilled into the Elusive vein intersected 1.78m of 4.46 g/t Au in a shear zone about 2m in width.

The company indicated that at the Goat Vein drill hole 20T-11 intersected 3.11m of 18.291 g/t. Au, which included 0.74m of 61.2 g/t Au. Grande Portage estimates that that there is also around 200 meters of untested vein projection before the main Eastern Boundary fault is believed to terminate the Goat structure.

The firm added that drill hole 20T-12, which focused on the Sleeping Giant vein and a nearby footwall off-shoot, returned impressive assay results of 1.48m of 10.356 g/t Au and 1.28m of 13.755 g/t Au.

As a result of the these efforts, the company stated that the Goat vein has been extended to the east for more than 150 meters in near surface drilling and is still open after drill hole 20T-6 reportedly intercepted a segment that showed 0.7m of 25.27 g/t Au. The firm added that three separate intersections located at depths 100 meters or greater below surface intersected excellent grades up to 80 meters east of the established resource. These high-grade results were from drill holes 20T-3, 20T-7 and 20T-11, which respectively returned 113.41 g/t Au over 1.2m, 18.45 g/t Au over 2.0m and 24.0 g/t Au over 2.1m.

The company additionally reported that drilling at the Ridge vein located at least five intersections that include a section of 1.48m of 29.21 g/t Au and that at the Main Vein, 14 intercepts were encountered with results as high as 18.67 g/t Au over 2.63m in drill hole 20T-8.

Grande Portage Resources' President Ian Klassen stated, "The 2020 drilling campaign clearly demonstrates confidence that the Herbert Gold system is pervasive and continues to expand. All veins drilled in 2020 encountered mineralized material. This, we expect, will be important when recalculating the NI resource."

"In partial measure alone, the four exceptional intercepts in the newly discovered Sleeping Giant vein found within a 200 m x 200 m range is very welcomed news and we expect will be especially impactful when we factor in the numerous assays received on all the other veins drilled this season," Klassen added.

Grande Portage Resources explained that it holds a 100% interest in the Herbert Gold property, which lies within the Juneau Gold Belt and is located about 25 km north of Juneau, Alaska. The company stated that the entire Herbert Gold property system remains open to length and at depth and hosts a minimum of six main composite vein-fault structures. The firm listed that in 2019, a technical report estimated that the underground Herbert Gold property hosts an Indicated resource of 606.5 Koz Au and an Inferred resource of 251.7 Koz Au.
