Westhaven Gold reports drilling has extended the gold-silver mineralization between the FMN and Franz zones and shows potential to expand the South zone, at Shovelnose.

Westhaven Gold Corp. (WHN:TSX.V) announced in a news release two sets of drill results, final ones from 2020 and the first two from 2021, from its Shovelnose project in British Columbia's Spences Bridge Gold Belt.

In the latter part of last year's drill program, the company focused on testing vein continuity along Vein zone 1's 4-kilometer-long strike zone and into the gap between the FMN and Franz zones.

As for FMN, the company noted that drilling there encountered additional significant veining, extending gold-silver mineralization into the area between FMN and Franz; the zone seems to strengthen the further along strike it goes.

Highlight assays from FMN include 5.99 meters (5.99m) of 2.36 grams per ton gold (2.36 g/t Au) and 98.42 g/t silver (Ag), including 1.19m of 11.25 g/t Au and 430 g/t Ag, in hole SN20-145.

At Franz, hole SN20-127 returned 0.58m of 6.05 g/t Au and 148 g/t Ag. This zone remains open to the northwest.

"Continued intersection of veining at the FMN and Franz zones confirms the vectoring towards stronger mineralization," the release noted.

Early in 2021, Westhaven completed two stepout drill holes on section 1050 in the South Zone to determine if Vein zone 1 continued downdip from previous intercepts. Holes SN21-152 and SN21-154 showed in fact that it did, as they intersected the zone 140m away from intercepts encountered on 2019 drilling.

"This demonstrates that there is significant potential to increase the size of the South zone vein system through exploration drilling," President and CEO Gareth Thomas said in the release. "This bodes well for the company as we move towards completing a maiden resource estimate for the South zone in 2021."

This year, Westhaven noted that it will keep concentrating on Vein zone 1, and its work will include stepout and infill drilling in the South zone.
