Fremont Gold identifies several high-priority targets at its North Carlin gold project in Nevada.

Fremont Gold Ltd. (FRE:TSX.V; FRERF:OTCQB; FR2:FSE) announced in a news release that it has begun its drill program at the North Carlin gold project "located at the northern end of Nevada's prolific Carlin Trend, one of the richest gold mining districts in the world."

Fremont CEO Blaine Monaghan commented, "We have developed a number of compelling drill targets in an underexplored area of the Carlin Trend...This is an excellent geological setting for the discovery of a major gold deposit."

Fremont Gold stated that it previously identified multiple high-priority drill targets that demonstrate potential for gold mineralization at the North Carlin project.

The firm advised that the location for the first drill hole (NR-1) is sited at the intersection of the Dee Fault and the Coyote NE Fault with the goal of targeting a Carlin-type deposit in lower plate units. The company advised that North Carlin's Coyote and Rossi claim targets display broad areas of chalcedonic breccias and siliceous alteration on surface, which often is an indicator of concealed gold mineralization in the Carlin Trend. The firm added that sampling has shown there to be a large arsenic-in-soil anomaly, which is a key factor in finding gold in Carlin-type deposits.

The company discussed that the North Carlin Alkali claim block targets are concentrated on the area intersecting the Carlin Trend faults and the Alkali NE Fault. This area has been found to contain a large block of magnetic high and coincident gold and mercury soil anomalies, which suggests that gold mineralization may be present beneath the alluvial cover. The firm explained that "the magnetic high at Alkali may indicate an intrusive body at depth" similar to the Carlin-type deposits found at Gold Standard Venture Corp.'s Railroad-Pinion project at the southern end of the Carlin Trend.

Fremont Gold noted that its wholly owned North Carlin project covers 42 sq km and is composed of the Alkali, Coyote and Rossi claim groups. The company reported that it has obtained permits for 14 drill sites at North Carlin and plans to drill a minimum of three holes, totaling 1,500 meters, using reverse circulation drilling methods.

The company pointed out that the Carlin Trend has produced greater than 84 Moz of gold in the 60 years and advised that Nevada Gold Mines' Carlin Complex hosts a Measured and Indicated resource of 30 Moz Au.

Fremonts explained that its North Carlin project is located about 6 km north of and on-strike of Nevada Gold Mines/Premier Gold Mines' South Arturo Mine. The company pointed out that drilling at South Arturo recently intersected 39.6 meters of 17.11 g/t golf.
