Eguana Technologies Inc. (EGT:TSX.V; EGTYF:OTCQB) announced in a news release it partnered with solar installation firm, Highlight Solar, to bring Eguana's residential energy storage systems to California's San Jose and San Francisco Bay areas.
"We are now addressing the Northern California market where homeowners will benefit from increased energy security and independence as well as reduced energy costs with either the Evolve NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt) or LFP (cobalt-free lithium-iron phosphate) storage systems," Eguana Director of Global Sales Livio Filice said in the release.
Northern California is a highly prospective region for Eguana as more than 800,000 homes there have solar photovoltaic systems in place, the company noted.
Over the next 12 months, Eguana and Highlight Solar expect to install in the Northern California region enough Evolve systems to store 1 MWh of energy. Highlight, based in San Jose, is on track to complete its first Evolve installations in August.
The company noted that Evolve products allow new and existing residential solar owners to store excess solar power for use during darkness. In doing so, they get the most out of their solar investment and increase their energy independence and security against a backdrop of threatening wildfires, rolling blackouts and grid failures, the company stated.
