Nexus Gold Corp. (NXS:TSX.V; NXXGF:OTCQB) announced in a news release that the mineralization at its Dakouli II 9,800 hectare gold concession in Burkina Faso, West Africa, is widespread, and samples have returned double digit grades.
The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company's geologists noticed an uptick in artisanal mining activity there along strike at the main mineralized zone took rock samples. The results have extended the Eastern zone's strike length to the east by about 200 meters (200m). This extension expands the scope of the mineralized zone to more than 400m in an east-to-west direction while north to south it spans more than 200m.
"Dakouli remains a priority for Nexus and one we intend to drill as soon as possible," President and CEO Alex Klenman said in the release. "We feel the upside here is clearly evident, and a compelling case for multiple drill programs has already been established."
Rock samples taken from two zones, to the west and south of the artisanal zone, showed various concentrations of visible gold. Of the 12 Northeast zone samples taken at 8–18m below surface from artisanal shafts and pits, six returned significant gold grades, between 2.9 grams per ton (2.9 g/t) and 29.5 g/t, including 27.5 g/t and 12.4 g/t from samples showing visible gold.
Nexus intends to commence drilling at the end of the rainy season, later this summer.[NLINSERT]
