Liberty Gold Corp. (LGD:TSX; LGDTF:OTCQB) commenced a fully funded, 2020 exploration program at its Black Pine oxide gold property in Idaho on March 31, it announced in a news release.
During this season, the company intends to focus on drilling the gold discoveries it made in 2019 and drilling in the surrounding district. It aims to drill many more meters than the 21,000 it drilled last year, thereby greatly expanding the overall tested target area.
The Canadian explorer was able to move forward with exploration despite Idaho Governor Brad Little's recent stay at home mandate because mining in that state is considered an "Essential Infrastructure Service" and, thus, exempt from the order.
Liberty Gold, however, stated that it is proceeding at Black Pine in a safe manner, cognizant of the COVID-19 pandemic and willing to change its strategy, if need be.
"As a company, we recognize the effect on individuals, local communities, states, countries and financial markets as a result of the coronavirus pandemic as announced by the World Health Organization on March 11, 2020, and we have established strict internal and external protocols for our employees, contractors and associates at Black Pine," President and CEO Cal Everett said in the release.
For instance, in early March, Liberty Gold initiated work from home and no flying policies for its office staff. Its Canada-based geologists are remaining in Canada and concentrating on interpreting data, digital modeling and delineating drill targets. Its U.S.-based geological team members all reside within driving distance of Black Pine.
Liberty Gold also put social distancing rules into place for the Idaho project site. Those include riding in vehicles alone, daily body temperature checking and maintaining space between oneself and all others at all times.
