Company Commences Drill Program at Quebec's Eastern Abitibi Greenstone Belt

Genesis Metals Corp. reported it has launched phase 1 of its 8,000m diamond drilling program at its Chevrier gold project in central Quebec.

In a news release, gold exploration company Genesis Metals Corp. (GIS:TSX.V; GGISF:OTC) announced that "it has commenced phase 1 of a staged 2020 diamond drilling program its Chevrier Gold project in the eastern Abitibi Greenstone Belt of Central Quebec." The company highlighted that it is fully funded to drill up to 8,000 meters this year at Chevrier.

The firm said that phase 1 drilling activity is planned to include a minimum of 2,500 meters in approximately 10 separate holes and that this first phase will focus on improving definition and expanding the volume of higher-grade domains that form of plunging "shoots" within the Chevrier Main deposit.

The company advised that is has contracted Chibougamau Drilling Ltd. to carry out the drill program that is initially scheduled to target two areas of the deposit with holes with depths ranging from 140 to 470 meters.

The firm pointed out that the Chevrier property is accessible by road, comprises greater than 290km2 and covers a 15km stretch of the Fancamp Deformation Zone where gold mineralization is associated with high strain zones. The company also noted that "the property is contiguous with the high-grade Monster Lake gold project and 20km northeast of the new IAMGOLD Corp./Vanstar Mining Resources Inc. 3.1 Moz Nelligan gold discovery."
