Blackrock Gold Corp. (BRC:TSX.V; BKRRF:OTCMKTS) announced in a news release that recent drilling confirmed that an east-west trending epithermal vein system exists at its Silver Cloud property in Nevada.

"The potential for discovery of a bonanza epithermal system on our property, for which the Northern Nevada Rift is renowned, represents a 3-dimensional puzzle that we are trying to solve. The initial results confirm the existence of an epithermal vein system oriented in an east-west direction. This is a crucial step forward in deciphering the mystery of Silver Cloud, and suggests we are well on our way to solving this puzzle," President and CEO Andrew Pollard said in the release.

"Given the reported gold grades and the trace element geochemistry, we correctly predicted the east-west structures, but they indicate that the drill encountered them too high in the system. This suggests potential exists for higher-grade gold at depth within the boiling zone of this epithermal system," Pollard added.

The new drilling at Silver Cloud was the first of its kind to take place there in 15 years. It entailed five core holes totaling 2,207 meters (2,207m). Partial gold and trace element assays were received for three of them; results of the other two are pending.

Hole SBC19-001, drilled next to the Silver Cloud mine, intersected 0.7m of 3.95 grams per ton (3.95 g/t) gold, starting at 290m. Hole SBC19-002, drilled in Northwest Canyon about 1,550m to the west of the Silver Cloud mine, hit a 1.5m vein zone with a grade of 8.32 g/t gold, starting at 263m.

"Drilling confirms the existence of an east-west, low-sulphidation, epithermal quartz veining system and potential for vein-hosted gold and silver as well as mineralized rhyolite porphyry intrusives," the release noted. The geology and geochemistry indicate that drilling hit upon the upper portion of the gold system.
