The purpose is to show its potential for commercial oil production.

Torchlight Drill Pad

Torchlight Energy Resources Inc. (TRCH:NASDAQ) announced in a news release that completion of its Cactus A35 #1H lateral well in the Orogrande Basin will be done this week.

The company noted that the planned frac "is an attempt to break through the dual porosity system and expand pore access in the oil window of the Pennsylvania Silt Zone encountered during drilling."

The fracking will deliver 9,500 barrels of water with 3,000 pounds of sand per foot in a five-cluster interval. Only a single stage will be carried out, to demonstrate the potential for commercial oil production from the target zone. Immediately after the frac, fluid flowback will be done.

The energy company will use the results to create a production profile and "assumptions for extended laterals with multistage frac deployment," the release explained.

CEO John Brda said in the release, "The single stage-frac being deployed on the A-35 1H is designed to validate our thesis for commercial liquid hydrocarbon production from the Pennsylvania Silt pay-zone. Results will allow for multi-stage completion and production modelling, a crucial and impactful component to the overall Orogrande basin profile and our ongoing marketing efforts."

"We are also optimistic about our progress in developing the vertical potential for this asset. Based on the success in the Helms and Barnett/Woodford sections to the east of us we expect to expand the project's unconventional potential and further deepen the value of this play," Brda added.

Torchlight also aims to develop the vertical potential of Cactus A35 #1H to enhance the value of the play.

As for the company's Founders A25 #2 well, a full array of drilling logs and sidewall cores is being run on it now that drilling is finished. Having reached a total depth of about 7,250 feet, the well is categorized as open hole, pending completion.

Once data are gathered and analyzed, "a frac will be engineered to target one or more of the formations encountered, with expected delivery early in the new year," the release noted.
