Premier Health Group Inc. (PHGI:CSE; PHGRF:OTCQB; 6PH:FSE) announced in a news release it is collaborating with IBM to use elements of Watson, a suite of artificial intelligence (AI) services, applications and tooling, to build a virtual medical office assistant into Premier's telemedicine app.
The ultimate goal is for the virtual assistant to do the tasks that it can, freeing up some time for Premier's 4,600 healthcare professionals who currently do them. Statistics show that nurses spend more than half their time and physicians spend nearly one-fifth of their time doing clerical and administrative work unrelated to delivering healthcare, according to the American Medical Informatics Association and Research Gate.
Initially, Premier Health and IBM will build into the solution ways for patients to interact with their medical office, reducing the time staff members spend on the phone. Additionally, for instance, Watson will help patients schedule appointments, instruct patients on what they need to do for their next appointment and, eventually, help with patient triage.
"Our new initiative is curated for medical clinic owners and operators to reduce the burdensome overhead associated with day-to-day logistical operations while also improving patient care, Premier Health CEO Dr. Essam Hamza said in the release. "The key for the future sustainability of healthcare is efficient and streamlined workflows, and with the use of IBM's cutting edge AI technology, we have the power to completely disrupt and revolutionize the delivery of healthcare."[NLINSERT]
