Liberty Defense Holdings Ltd. (SCAN:TSX.V; LDDFF:OTCQB; LD2:FSE) announced in a news release it signed a collaboration agreement to test HEXWAVE with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA).
The GTAA, the first such agency on board with Liberty Defense in this capacity, operates Canada's largest airport complex, the Pearson International Airport in Mississauga. In 2018, 49.5 million passengers passed through it.
Rather than replace the existing security measures in airports, Liberty Defense aims to enhance them, for a layered approach. It also aims to extend the secure zones at airports to between the drop-off/pick-up curb and the gates, as HEXWAVE allows for both indoor and outdoor screening.
"HEXWAVE caught my attention with its capability to detect both metallic and nonmetallic objects and the flexibility for its deployment across the airport," the GTAA's Director of Corporate Safety and Security Dwayne Macintosh said in the release. "We work with our partners to evaluate their products and evaluate how they can complement our operational reality."
"Aviation security has been a key driver of the development of new security technologies and services globally, helping travelers to feel safe in an ever-changing threat environment," said Bill Riker, CEO of Liberty Defense.
Liberty Defense also plans to beta test HEXWAVE at FC Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena in Germany, Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Maryland Stadium Authority's Camden Yards Complex, in the state of Utah, with the Virginia Division of Capitol Police, in Sleiman shopping centers, in a Hindu temple, and in the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
