The end of Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan's term in office moved a step closer Tuesday as a landmark bill to promote renewable energy in the wake of the March 11 disasters passed through the lower house of parliament.
The energy bill is meant to reduce Japan's reliance on nuclear power following the disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear complex.
