Hong Kong Trio Arrested for US$11M Gold Theft

"The gold is worth HK$90 million in Hong Kong."

Three Hong Kong men believed to be behind the theft of gold worth 90 million Hong Kong dollars ($11.5 million US. .dollars) were in police custody Friday.

The three were arrested in southern China where they fled following the theft in Hong Kong's New Territories in October.

Police in China returned the men, aged 39 to 45, to their Hong Kong counterparts Friday.

Most of the gold, weighing 265 kilograms, was recovered by police in a vehicle.

Police said Friday the suspects were being detained for questioning but did not release further details about the theft.
