Star Gold Corp. (SRGZ:OTCQB) finalized its summer 2026 drill campaign at Longstreet, a 11-hole program combining resource definition, water wells, and its first Opal Ridge test.

Star Gold Corp. (SRGZ:OTCQB) has finalized its summer drill program at the Longstreet Gold-Silver Project, grabbing the attention of precious metals investors.

Key Takeaways

  • Star Gold Corp. finalized the design of its summer 2026 drill campaign at the wholly owned Longstreet Gold-Silver Project in Nye County, Nevada, with earthwork for drill site access now underway.
  • The 11-hole HQ core program combines resource definition drilling around the Main deposit with the company's first water production well and its first-ever deep test of the Opal Ridge target, drilled to 800 feet.
  • Eight angled holes at Main are designed to expand the resource while generating metallurgical test material for mine planning and permitting.
  • Two vertical holes near Main will be completed as groundwater monitor wells with piezometers, delivering baseline hydrologic data ahead of a future permit application.
  • All core will be logged and stored in Tonopah, Nevada, with sample splits shipped to ALS Global in Reno for assay under the company's chain-of-custody protocols.

One Program, Four Objectives

On July 28, 2026, Star Gold Corp. announced it has finalized the design of its summer 2026 drill campaign at the Longstreet Gold-Silver Project in Nye County, Nevada, and that earthwork to establish drill site access is already underway. Lindsay Gorrill, President and CEO of Star Gold, said in the release: "Every hole in this campaign is asked to answer more than one question, and the water and monitor wells give us hydrologic data that a permit application will eventually demand."

Exploration, metallurgy, hydrology, and permitting will all be completed within an 11-hole HQ core program to avoid the constraints of mobilization cost and permitting timelines for four separate projects.

The seven planned holes break down as follows:

  • A vertical exploration water production well collared at the bottom of the canyon below the Main resource — the first water production well drilled at Longstreet.
  • Eight angled holes at -45 degrees focused on resource definition and expansion within and adjacent to Main.
  • Two vertical holes near Main to be completed as groundwater monitor wells with piezometers, one drilled to a total depth of 800 feet, which will be the company's first test of the Opal Ridge target at depth, immediately south of Main.
  • Every hole in the program will recover HQ diameter core, including those drilled primarily for water.

HQ core yields more representative assay data than smaller-diameter core or reverse-circulation cuttings. The hydrologic holes are also expected to return new geologic and structural information. Recovered material will be logged, cut, and stored in secure facilities in Tonopah, Nevada, with a quarter of each sampled shipped to ALS Global in Reno for testing under the company's chain-of-custody protocols.

According to the announcement, the company believes that getting hydrologic and metallurgical data done now, inside its existing permitted footprint, is how a company of its size can advance a project without waiting on the next round of approvals.

Hydrologic characterization is required for mine permitting in Nevada, and the two monitor wells with piezometers are intended to give the Star Gold baseline groundwater data before applying for a permit. The water production well also tests whether the district can support an operating mine.

Star Gold Corp. is a U.S.-based gold and silver exploration company developing assets along the proven Walker Lane Belt in Nevada. The company's 100%-owned Longstreet Project spans approximately 2,600 acres, comprising 137 unpatented mining claims and five additional unpatented claims held under lease with an option to purchase.

Gold Rises as Iran Tensions Ease

Junior miners and exploration companies hit the ground running this year after gold rallied at a high of US$5,500 per ounce in January. Many companies chose to begin exploration or production amid these highs. While prices have since fallen, and even dipped below US$4,000 in June, rates are still up 24% compared to July 2025, and Gold.org wrote that: "[T]he stage is set for a possible breakout. On the upside, clear catalysts — a worsening economy or renewed geopolitical shock, a shift towards lower interest-rate expectations, or a wave of dip buying — could reignite gold’s momentum and lift it back towards US$4,500/oz or above."

Gold prices have risen slightly on July 27, 2026, after tension between the U.S. and Iran cooled over the weekend. According to Trading Economics, "Gold rose 1% toward US$4,100 an ounce on Monday as easing tensions between the US and Iran sent oil prices sharply lower, easing inflation concerns and reducing fears that the Federal Reserve may need to tighten monetary policy more aggressively ahead of its meeting later this week."

In April, S&P Global wrote, "Gold is expected to remain volatile but structurally supported, with central bank demand and geopolitical risk helping to establish a price floor above recent correction lows."

Silver is recovering from a recent low after "markets reduced bets on Federal Reserve rate hikes after disappointing U.S. jobs data." Despite projections of 110,000 new jobs being added to the market in June, actual numbers came in only around 57,000 — the lowest in four months. Silver also rallied support from rising oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz and progress in indirect U.S.-Iran talks, which lowered oil prices and eased fears of inflation.

Higher demand from electric cars, solar panels, data centers, and more is shoring up silver's future demand. Yahoo Finance quoted experts from both BlackRock and J.P. Morgan as saying, "By the end of 2026, experts predict silver's price will surpass US$80 per ounce, and it could reach US$100 per ounce by 2030."

Despite the volatility of gold and silver, the sector as a whole is only showing signs of improvement. On May 7, 2026, Brian Taylor of Recycling Today said that the World Bank Group has predicted that overall global metals prices will rise by 17% in 2026, which would mark the first overall market increase since 2022.

Two Analysts Flag Long-Neglected Stock

1In a March 6, 2026, contributed technical analyst opinion piece for Streetwise Reports, John Newell of John Newell & Associates weighed in on Star Gold's stock. He said, "The chart for Star Gold is beginning to show the kind of structure technicians often watch for after a long period of neglect. Following years of quiet trading during the junior mining bear market, the shares appear to have built a broad accumulation base. These long bases are important because they represent a gradual transfer of stock from discouraged holders into stronger hands willing to wait for the next cycle."

Newell argued that the stock has been largely ignored but has historically attracted strong buying interest during rallies, saying, "If the shares can establish a sustained move above the US$0.18 level, the chart begins to suggest a potential advance toward the US$0.40 area, which represents the next logical technical objective based on the stock's historical trading structure."

2In a separate contributed technical analyst opinion, Stewart Thomson gave his opinion of the company on April 27, 2026. Thomson gave the stock a "Strong Speculative Buy" rating and said that it ". . . volume has been this high before, but not consistently, as it is now." Thomson went on to give Star Gold a short-term price target of US$0.20 and a long-term price target of US$5.40, noting that "given the consistent outperformance of Star Gold during CDNX rallies, high long-term price targets for the stock are reasonable considerations."
