New Texas Battery Storage Project Pushes Platform to 1.8 GWh of Selected Capacity

Bimergen Energy Corp. (BESS:NYSE) announced FPUSA selected the 100 MW / 400 MWh Wildfire BESS Project under the company's existing strategic framework.

Bimergen Energy Corp. (BESS:NYSE) announced that Frontier Power USA (FPUSA) has selected the Wildfire BESS Project, a 100 MW / 400 MWh battery energy storage project in Caldwell County, Texas, for conversion onto the FPUSA platform under the companies' existing strategic framework. According to the announcement, the project is expected to utilize Eos Energy Enterprises' Z3 long-duration batteries, while closing remains contingent upon the negotiation and execution of definitive documentation and the successful closing of Eos's recently announced rights offering.

The Wildfire selection follows FPUSA's previously announced conversion of a 480 MWh portfolio of ERCOT-based projects from the Bimergen portfolio and FPUSA's selection of four projects representing approximately 920 MWh under its strategic framework with Stella Energy Solutions. Together, the closed and selected projects represent approximately 1.8 GWh of battery energy storage capacity, equal to approximately 90% of FPUSA's 2 GWh capacity reservation agreement with Eos.

According to the company, the transaction is expected to be documented on economic terms consistent with the previously completed Bimergen portfolio transaction. FPUSA stated that its closed and selected project portfolio is focused on projects targeting near-term notice-to-proceed milestones in 2026 and early 2027.

FPUSA said it was formed to accelerate the deployment of utility-scale, long-duration battery storage infrastructure by integrating development, committed manufacturing capacity, institutional capital, project financing, and insured performance under a single platform. The company stated that its 2 GWh capacity reservation agreement with Eos is intended to provide dedicated access to an American-made long-duration battery supply.

FPUSA also announced that its equity capital base is anchored by a previously announced commitment from funds and accounts managed by Cerberus Capital Management and is expected to be further supported by an investment from Hudson Bay Capital and proceeds from the Eos rights offering. Hudson Bay's commitment includes a US$50 million direct equity commitment into FPUSA, subject to certain conditions, as part of a broader US$125 million commitment, with the remaining US$75 million comprising an investment into Eos to support Eos's investment in FPUSA. The company also said it is working with KKR Capital Markets LLC to support the structuring of long-term project financing across the platform.

"Wildfire is another important step in the execution of the FPUSA platform," said Aaron Maczonis, Managing Director at Cerberus Capital Management. "With this selection, FPUSA has now closed or selected approximately 1.8 GWh of projects against its 2 GWh capacity reservation agreement with Eos."

Battery Storage Market Continues to Expand

According to the Solar Energy Industries Association and Benchmark Mineral Intelligence's Q2 Energy Storage Market Outlook, published May 21, battery energy stationary storage installations reached 9.7 GWh during the first quarter, marking "the largest Q1 in history" and a 32% year over year increase. The report stated that the utility-scale market drove growth with 7.8 GWh, or 1.5 GW, installed, while six states each added more than 500 MWh of new capacity. It also noted that many electric vehicle manufacturing facilities were retooling production lines to serve the energy storage market and that the United States could reach more than 120 GWh of battery cell manufacturing capacity if planned facilities become operational. The report stated that the U.S. installed 57.6 GWh of new energy storage capacity in 2025, with 48% of utility-scale storage paired with solar generation, and ranked Texas second nationally with 29,163 MWh of cumulative storage capacity.

Global Market Insights wrote on July 20 that the global utility-scale sodium-ion energy storage systems market was valued at US$113.2 million in 2025. According to the report, "accelerating renewable energy capacity additions and the structural need for thermally stable, critical-mineral-diversified bulk storage at the grid scale" drove the market. It stated that "the most consequential structural shift in the sodium-ion energy storage market" had been "the exit from the pilot phase into repeatable commercial procurement cycles," with the transition reaching an inflection point during 2025 and 2026. The report also stated that "global renewable energy capacity additions are creating structural demand for large-scale storage that can absorb intermittent generation at the grid interface," while sodium-ion battery technology offered "a structurally differentiated value proposition" because of its reduced dependence on lithium, cobalt and graphite.

Research and Markets wrote in a July 20 report that the flywheel energy storage system market was projected to reach US$519.33 million in 2026. According to the report, flywheel systems were "gaining strategic importance as power networks, industrial facilities, data centers, transit systems, and critical infrastructure seek fast-response, high-cycle, and low-maintenance energy storage." It stated that the industry was being shaped by "the global shift toward renewable energy integration, grid modernization, electrified transportation, and resilient energy infrastructure." The report also noted that "the landscape is therefore shifting from single-purpose storage deployments toward integrated energy resilience ecosystems where flywheels perform targeted, high-value grid and facility functions," while artificial intelligence was increasingly influencing energy storage through "predictive maintenance, real-time dispatch optimization, grid signal interpretation, and lifecycle performance management."

Analyst Sees US$9.50 Per Share Valuation in Coverage Initiation

In a June 8 initiation report, Atrium Research analyst Nicholas Cortellucci, CFA, and equity research associate Luca Perna initiated coverage of Bimergen Energy Corp. with a Buy rating and a US$9.50 per share target price.

The analysts stated that the company had 23 battery energy storage projects in development, totaling 2.0 GW, and described the portfolio as an active development pipeline. They also noted management's stated long-term objective of expanding the portfolio to 4.0 GW.

Cortellucci and Perna highlighted the company's balance sheet, writing that Bimergen held a net cash balance of US$8.9 million, or US$1.20 per share, compared with a market capitalization of US$26.0 million. They also noted that the company had secured US$250 million in commitments for the mezzanine and equity portions of its projects, with the remaining capital expected to be funded through debt.

Discussing the company's business model, the analysts wrote that because Bimergen functions as a project manager rather than a battery manufacturer, its economics are capital-light. They stated that a typical 100 MW project requires approximately US$125 million in capital expenditures and can generate EBITDA margins of about 50%, supported by contracted revenue floors and additional revenue opportunities.

Atrium Research also cited the company's strategic partnerships, stating that Bimergen has assembled relationships spanning system integration and execution, manufacturing and supply chain, technology and chemistry advancement, and capital and co-development.

The report further stated that the company operates "at the intersection of three massive shifts in the U.S. power markets: 1) a return to electricity-demand growth after more than 15 years of stagnation, 2) the expansion of AI-driven data centers, and 3) the build-out of the world's second-largest grid-scale battery storage market."

In its valuation analysis, Atrium Research wrote that comparable energy storage companies traded at higher valuation multiples, while Bimergen traded at "0.9x/0.3x 2027E/2028E EBITDA and 0.4x/0.2x 2027E/2028E sales." The analysts stated that their US$9.50 price target was based on applying a 9.0x EBITDA multiple.

Atrium Research also maintained its BUY rating and US$9.50 price target on Bimergen Energy in a July 14 update following the Wildfire project announcement. The firm stated that its estimates remained unchanged while it awaited additional details on the transaction structure. The note said the Wildfire selection followed FPUSA's earlier acquisition of Bimergen's 480 MWh ERCOT portfolio and that the terms of the Wildfire agreement were expected to be consistent with that transaction. Atrium also noted that FPUSA had visibility into approximately 4 GWh of near-term opportunities, which it said made FPUSA "a strong partner for Bimergen."

Separately, MarketBeat reported that Bimergen Energy had a consensus "Buy" rating based on three Wall Street analyst ratings, consisting of two Strong Buy ratings and one Hold rating. According to the ratings history, ThinkEquity upgraded the stock to Strong Buy on May 4, 2026, and Zacks Research upgraded its rating to Hold on May 4, 2026.

 

Development Pipeline and Recent Project Activity

According to the company's investor presentation, Bimergen's battery energy storage system pipeline consists of 23 projects totaling approximately 2.0 GW across ERCOT, WECC, PJM, and MISO regions. The portfolio includes projects in Texas, Arizona, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Louisiana, including Wildfire, Redbird, Friendship, Ladybird, Longhorn, Pecan, Prickly Pear, and Yellow Rose.

The presentation states that Bimergen recently sold one 100 MW development project and two 10 MW ERCOT battery energy storage projects totaling 480 MWh to Frontier Power USA, with FPUSA committing to fund 100% of the required construction equity while Bimergen retains a 7.5% economic interest. It also notes that the company selected SMA as inverter supplier for an 80 MW ERCOT portfolio, awarded TruGrid an EPC contract for a 40 MW / 80 MWh ERCOT South portfolio, received approval to advance the 100 MW / 400 MWh Redbird project toward construction using Eos zinc-based battery technology, completed the acquisition of eight late-stage battery energy storage projects totaling approximately 79.2 MW, and raised US$13.6 million in gross proceeds through a public offering.
