Sector Expert: Michael Callahan
Michael Callahan, the president, CEO and director of eCobalt Solutions, joined eCobalt in October 2018. He has established and led numerous sizeable operations in North America and internationally and has been responsible for the evaluation and execution of several growth-oriented transactions throughout his career. Establishing his career with Hecla Mining in 1989, Callahan held increasingly senior roles, including vice president of corporate development and president of Hecla's Venezuelan mining operations where he oversaw all aspects of operations, successfully managed two gold operations with a 1,000 man workforce, and transformed the La Camorra mine from an unprofitable asset into the largest gold producer in Venezuela. Callahan has also served as president of Silvermex Resources Inc., a TSX-listed silver and gold producer with projects in Mexico acquired by First Majestic Silver Corp. in 2012, and president and CEO of Western Pacific Resources Corp., a mineral exploration and development company focused on rehabilitating and exploring the Deer Trail Mine in Utah.
As the silver space picks up momentum and grabs attention, it's taken on a decidedly Latin look. That's evident from The Gold Report's conversations with a handful of executives whose companies stand out among south-of-the-border silver producers. Sharing their opinions, insights and perspectives in our "virtual roundtable" are Ross Beaty, chairman of Pan American Silver Corp.; Mike Callahan, president of Silvermex Resources Ltd.; Jorge Alberto Ganoza Durant, president and CEO of Fortuna Silver Mines Inc.; and Lenic Rodriguez, president and CEO of Aurcana Corporation. Also joining the party is Brent Cook, familiar to The Gold Report readers as the renowned exploration analyst and geologist who produces the weekly Exploration Insights newsletter.
