Quebec Precious Metals Corporation (QPM:TSX.V) announced in a news release that its 2021 summer surface sampling program yielded encouraging results and "further confirmed the excellent gold potential of the Elmer East project," which is 100% owned.
The gold grades shown in the 153 samples taken from veins in the Lloyd discovery area were as high as 61.8 grams per tonne (61.8 g/t). Other impressive values, among many, were 8.17 g/t gold, 41.2 g/t silver, 0.21% zinc, and 1.65% lead and 7.31 g/t gold, 18.3 g/t silver, 0.28% zinc, and 0.46% lead.
Sampling also extended the previously identified mineralized corridor at Lloyd to 4.2 kilometers from 60 meters (60m) — an increase of 6,900%. Mineralization remains open in all directions.
"The mineralized rocks consist of a 1 to 2m wide southwest-northeast trending and shallow dipping hematized quartz ± epidote - carbonate veins with open spaces crystallization and various amounts of sulphides (galena, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, and pyrite)," the release noted.
As for what's next for the company in regards to Lloyd, CEO Normand Champigny said in the release, "We are going back to the field this month to improve our geological understanding of this extensive mineralized system to identify the best drill targets."
This will involve collecting helicopter-borne LiDAR data and an orthophoto over a surface area of 4.8 square kilometers of Lloyd and developing a structural characterization of the vein system there.
The 2021 grab sampling program also returned encouraging precious metals values from the north-central claim block of Elmer East. They included 61.8 g/t gold and 35.8 g/t silver.
"These two high values highlight the potential of other discoveries along the interpreted northwest-trending structure," according to the release.
