StrikePoint Gold reported drill results from the Edge Zone Discovery at its Willoughby Project that returned 7.72 m of 10.04 g/t gold and 5.61 g/t silver.

In a news release, StrikePoint Gold Inc. (SKP:TSX.V; STKXF:OTCQB) announced drill results from its 2020 exploration program at its wholly owned Willoughby gold-silver property located near Stewart, B.C. in Canada's Golden Triangle. "This drilling program was successful in identifying: 1) a new-high grade discovery at the Edge Zone and 2) long intervals of disseminated gold mineralization at the Wilby area," the company noted.

StrikePoint Gold's CEO Shawn Khunkhun commented, "Drill Hole W20-106 represents a geological breakthrough and an important discovery at Willoughby, where we targeted high-grade mineralization in a setting that is similar to other major gold deposits in area. The intrusive-related, gold-bearing massive and stringer sulphide mineralization at the Edge Zone is wide open for expansion. With a strong treasury and successful exploration programs at both the nearby high-grade Porter Silver Property, and the Willoughby Gold-Silver Project we are poised to be the dominant discovery-focused explorer in the Golden Triangle."

The company noted that along with surface mapping and sampling at Willoughby, over the course of the 2020 drill program it carried out and completed 1,715 meters of drilling in six drill holes. The firm indicated that four of the six holes were drilled at the Wilby Zone to test for disseminated gold-silver and the other two were drilled at the Edge Zone to test for high-grade intrusive-related mineralization.

StrikePoint noted that the Willoughby property displays geological characteristics that are similar to the nearby Brucejack, Dolly Varden, Premier and Red Mountain deposits and hosts at least three different styles of mineralization in eight known areas. The firm stated that just two of these areas, the Edge and Wilby Zones, were tested during the 2020 drill program.

The company reported that at the Edge Zone, drill hole W20-106 intersected 4.19 g/t gold and 18.28 g/t silver over 27.78 meters, which included a higher-grade zone of 7.72 meters averaging 10.04 g/t gold and 5.61 g/t silver. The firm stated that "This hole is interpreted to be contiguous with historic hole 96-88, which intersected 7.62 g/t Au and 1.43 g/t Ag over 11.47 Meters located approximately 40 meters further north and updip also within the footwall to the sill contact. Gold mineralization here is hosted within massive, semi-massive, stringer and disseminated pyrite and pyrrhotite, sphalerite and minor galena."

At the Wilby Zone, the company noted that four different holes were drilled from the same platform to test a target area of disseminated gold-silver mineralization. "This area hosts a different style of mineralization to the Edge Zone, with mineralization associated with brittle fault zones hosted within sediments. The conceptual target was to identify potential for large, early-Jurassic disseminated gold deposits similar to Seabridge’s KSM and Tudor’s Treaty Creek Deposits," the company stated. Drill results from Wilby returned intervals that include 1.13 g/t gold and 7.19 g/t silver over 19.47 meters in drill hole W20-102 and 1.22 g/t gold and 15.65 g/t silver over 33.50 meters, including 3.54 g/t gold and 48.60 g/t silver over 7.90 meters in drill hole W20-103.

StrikePoint noted that the Willoughby Project is situated along the eastern margin of the Cambria Icefield and is proximal to Ascot Resources' recently acquired Red Mountain Deposit. The firm stated that so far eight separate gold and silver mineralized zones have been identified at Willoughby over a one-kilometer strike-length mineralization trend.
