NexTech AR Solutions Corp. (NTAR:CSE; NEXCF:OTCQB) announced in a news release it hired Dr. Barry Sandrew as the chief operating officer and executive producer of its AR Studios in Hollywood, Calif.
The studio will produce immersive, augmented reality content and applications for NexTech's proprietary entertainment venue, Presence.
"At NexTech, we are building an innovative concept for immersive entertainment that I've been waiting almost a decade to materialize," Sandrew said in the release. "Within AR Studios, the technology, talent and opportunity to create this new form of storytelling have converged into what promises to become a game changing entertainment venue."
Sandrew will partner with NexTech President Paul Duffy to develop AR Studios and Presence into numerous targeted vertical opportunities. "We are creating a new mass medium which will change the viewing experience of content forever," Duffy said in the release.
Sandrew, world renowned as a "proponent, thought leader and popular keynote speaker of AR," has more than 30 years' experience in founding, building and running visual effects production studios in Hollywood. He invented numerous visual effects processes, including digital colorization of black and white movies and conversion of two-dimensional films into three-dimensional (3D) ones. Over the past decade, he led production of more than 65 of the highest-performing 3D feature films.
