With the upgrades, the technology can now be deployed in smaller cameras.

NexOptic Technology Corp. (NXO:TSX.V; NXOPF:OTCQB) announced in a news release it has improved its Advanced Low Light Imaging Solution (ALLIS) through artificial intelligence and its patent-pending, deep learning algorithms.

For one, the ALLIS technologically radically reduces image noise that all camera systems experience. It allows for real-time correction of images or video taken with suboptimal light, which translates into more efficient streaming or storing of media files.

Specifically, the newly enhanced ALLIS now requires more than 200% less computation, and it now reduces file size by about 100 times. ALLIS offers other improvements to downstream applications, such as facial recognition and computational photography.

These upgrades allow ALLIS to be more broadly integrated, now in smaller imaging devices as well, like smartphones, tablets and security cameras. This equates to about a fivefold increase in the number of image sensors that can be ALLIS enabled.

NexOptic is looking to integrate and distribute ALLIS through semiconductor sales, as it sees this as the most efficient way to secure a position in the optics industry. Accordingly, the company has been meeting with imaging and AI semiconductor manufacturers.

"ALLIS' increased efficiencies have allowed us to become highly selective in whose semiconductors we will be supporting going forward, NexOptic Chairman Rich Geruson said in the release. "These options should enable NexOptic to receive better industry-wide acceptance of ALLIS."
