The mine complex is producing ore, but it is being stockpiled until state requirements are met.

Western Uranium & Vanadium Corp. (WUC:CSE; WSTRF:OTCQX) provided in a news release an update on its Sunday Mine vanadium project in Colorado.

Development drilling, to expand the mine production areas, is in progress, and mining of ore has begun. The company is stockpiling the ore underground and will continue to do so until it finishes the mandatory requirements of the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, which include providing further information and completing specific construction projects. Once these have been done, the company will ship ore from the mines.

Initial sampling from the face of the mine workings showed vanadium oxide (V2O5) grades ranging from 3–14%. To determine the expected grades of produced vanadium, the company mined 12 large amounts of ore from the four mines. Twelve samples were analyzed, and they showed an average V2O5 grade of 3.15%.

Western also provided an update in the release regarding the request made by U.S. uranium companies of the federal government under Section 232. The related working group, assigned to investigate uranium imports, held a stakeholder roundtable discussion last week in Washington, D.C. Now, it is parsing the feedback, identifying ways to reinvigorate the nuclear fuel supply chain. The group is due to provide President Trump with a report on or about Oct. 10.

"Western's observation and view is that the stakeholders comprising the U.S. nuclear fuel cycle are increasingly finding common ground, and this makes it more likely that significant support will be enacted to secure each stage of the American nuclear fuel cycle," the release noted.
