Liberty Gold Corp. (LGD:TSX; LGDTF:OTCQB) announced in a news release that recent drill results returned some of the highest-grade and longest intercepts ever encountered at Black Pine in Southern Idaho.
Further, results outlined a second, high-grade zone of oxide gold mineralization, called the Discovery 2 zone, which is subparallel to and 250 meters (250m) northeast of the Discovery 1 zone and open in all directions.
Liberty believes the two zones converge near the northern margin of the historic B pit, where the average grade of mined gold was 1.38 grams per ton (1.38 g/t).
"It is important to note that these zones are potentially open pittable and amenable to processing using simple, low-cost, heap-leach methods, making the high grades and lengths we are seeing even more exceptional," President and CEO Cal Everett said in the release.
The latest findings come from eight Black Pine reverse circulation holes over a roughly 250m by 50m area, comprising Discovery 2.
One of the holes drilled there, LBP043, is the top unmined intercept drilled to date on the property. It returned high-grade gold mineralization in shorter intercepts, such as 6.1m of 9.01 g/t, including 4.6m of 11.41 g/t. Longer intercepts of higher-grade mineralization included 12.2m of 12.05 g/t gold and 38.1m of 5.76 g/t gold.
LBP048, for instance, returned lower-grade gold mineralization but longer intercepts, including 30.5m of 0.78 g/t and 39.6m of 1.16 g/t, including 18.3m of 1.82 g/t.
Liberty Gold intends to determine the size, grade and dimension of Discoveries 1 and 2 then drill test new targets outward from those areas.
