Azarga Uranium Corp. (AZZ:TSX; AZZUF:OTCQB) announced in a news release it is one step closer to receiving the final U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) permits for developing its Dewey Burdock uranium project in South Dakota.
The EPA just issued revised draft permits for the in situ recovery project, which address most of the related comments, even those of Azarga, submitted to the agency. The EPA will make the new draft permits available for public review and comment through Oct. 10, 2019.
"This is a significant step towards the issuance of the final EPA permits and continues to advance the Dewey Burdock project towards development," President and CEO Blake Steele said in the release.
"The revised draft EPA permits pertain to the company's planned class III and class V underground injection control (UIC) activities," the release noted. The UIC approval is one of three major regulatory approvals required for the project. The others, still to be obtained, are from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
In concert with Azarga's progress on the permitting front, the company intends to publish an updated preliminary economic assessment for Dewey Burdock in fall 2019.[NLINSERT]
