Great Bear Resources Ltd. (GBR:TSX.V; GTBDF:OTC) announced in a news release that through drilling, it made a new high-grade gold discovery, the Bear-Rimini zone, at its Dixie project in Ontario's Red Lake District. Bear-Rimini is 2.5 kilometers northwest of the Hinge zone.
Discovery drill hole DNW-011 hit on a new zone of shallow high-grade gold, called the LP fault, a target within Bear-Rimini. The LP fault, along with the North fault, a parallel structure, seems to transect the property for 18 km of strike length. "The fault marks a contact between mafic and felsic/intermediate rocks and is spatially associated with an 80–200m wide quartz sericite zone associated with highly anomalous to high-grade gold mineralization," President and CEO Chris Taylor said in the release.
Highlight assays from DNW-011 included 12.33 grams per ton (12.33 g/t) gold over 14 meters (14m), including 30.9 g/t gold over 4.6m along with 94.21 g/t gold over 2m, including 759.38 g/t gold over 0.5m multiple shallow gold zones near Bear-Rimini.
Great Bear will conduct additional drilling in the Bear-Rimini zone this year.
