"The technique allows for minimal wall damage, as well as mining at very narrow widths. . ."
Tanami Gold is set to implement the technique for full production at the Coyote site, following success since it was introduced last year.
The technique allows for minimal wall damage, as well as mining at very narrow widths and is similar to technology being used in South Africa. This is expected to lower mining costs and increase ore recovery, while dilution is set to be reduced with some areas predicted to yield over 30g/t au.
The trial was carried out where the semi-oxidized nature of the surrounding ground rock may have caused excessive dilution if conventional mining techniques had been used.
