...Alan Greenspan, former head of the Federal Reserve Bank, was recently asked to speak at an energy conference in Houston attended by oil company executives from around the world. One of the points he made was that nuclear energy is part of a strategy aimed at reducing our dependence on imported oil that he would recommend to the next president.

Acknowledging that nuclear power has some political hurdles to clear, Greenspan said that our country must continue to work toward a successful program for spent-fuel management, but he believes it is a "resolvable problem."
