Central Bank Gold Agreement sales reported so far for the CBGA year -- which is almost over -- have totaled some 441 mt, according to the World Gold Council, in its update on gold reserves published last night.

However, the WGC noted that the data covered only the euro-zone countries and Sweden up to mid-September, whereas data for Switzerland were only available up to the end of August.

The Council noted: "If Switzerland continued to sell in September at broadly the same pace as in July and August, then total sales to mid-September would have amounted to 455 to 460 tonnes."
