Gold steadied on Monday after an earlier climb to its highest level in more than three months as a weaker dollar and firm oil prices prompted investors to buy the precious metal.

Silver tracking dollar touched a six-month high at $13.55 an ounce, but platinum was quoted nearly $20 an ounce below last week's European close at $1,185 an ounce and the record high of $1,395 an ounce hit on Tuesday.
