The new additions to its existing platform tackle these problems: shootings of officers and entry of active assailants into buildings.

Patriot One Technologies Inc. (PAT:TSX; PTOTF:OTCQX) announced in a news release that at the 2019 International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Conference taking place now, it intends to launch a new solution for police and other safety officers while in their vehicles.

"Our video analytics team has expanded the PATSCAN VRS software beyond the detection of rifles, gun, knives and fights. We're now able to detect approaching threats and other common hazards facing police officers every day," Dr. James Stewart, senior vice president of video analytics for Patriot One and an active 15-year auxiliary police officer, said in the release.

Patriot One will demonstrate its new PATSCAN VRS-M (mobile) at the meeting using a University of North Dakota Police Department vehicle. The system detects and alerts working police officers in three ways.

One, VRS-M detects threats to police officers working in and around their vehicles and alerts both them and their dispatch centers accordingly. The goal is to prevent ambush attacks on law enforcement workers in the field.

Two, VRS-M alerts officers conducting traffic stops about potential traffic accidents due to lane drift of passing cars.

Three, VRS-M's video recognition component searches license plates visible to the camera for ones associated with BOLOs/LPRs and alerts officers upon seeing one.

In other news, Patriot One debuted a fresh, updated website, patriot1tech.com, aimed at clearly conveying the ability and breadth of its PATSCAN platform. The site features an interactive page that demonstrates how each PATSCAN sensor may be deployed. It also incorporates the company's previously standalone publicsecurity.today blog.

Rollout of the new website marks the third anniversary of Patriot One's corporate launch, which occurred at the 2016 IACP Conference.

Also at the 2019 IACP Conference in progress now, Patriot One will debut an artificial-intelligence powered solution that detects and delays an active shooter's progress into a building, it announced in a separate news release.

When the PATSCAN platform detects a threat, the integrated components kick in. Smarter Security's Fastlane locks down turnstile lanes and/or Door Detectives locks down access-controlled doors to prevent a potential assailant from entering the building, subsequently detaining them in a specific area. The solution captures important details about the person and location and takes and sends related real-time video to security personnel and first responders.

The solution "works in any space, reduces false alarms, and continues to learn and adapt to situations in real time," said Smarter Security CEO Jeff Brown in the release.
