Cobalt Company Reports Progress with U.S. Mine Development Work

The firm continues its infrastructure, feasibility study and staffing efforts for its Idaho Cobalt Project.

eCobalt Solutions Inc. (ECS:TSX; ECSIF:OTCQX; ECO:FSE) provided an update on its Idaho Cobalt Project, specifying development tasks that have been recently completed and tasks that remain in progress. "I am very impressed with not only the volume of work but also the quality of work that has been done on the ground by the team," said Michael Callahan, president and CEO.

As for what has been done, the maintenance building is up and working. Potable water and power systems are installed and functioning. The water management ponds are finished. The wildlife fence is up. The pumpback system has been electrified. Water treatment pipelines are installed and winterized.

Regarding what is yet to be completed, the liner of the tailings waste storage facility is one; it is 33% done. That project will be covered for the winter and finished in the spring. The finished portion now can accept waste rock. Mill foundations are nearly halfway done (40%). Construction of phase 1 of the portal bench, underway, should be done in 2018.

With respect to the water treatment plant, it remains under construction inside the finished water treatment plant facility. The mechanical component is slated to be completed by the end of November. Next year, commissioning of the plant and pumpback system will occur in preparation for launching underground operations.

As for progress of the new feasibility study for the Idaho Cobalt Project, Callahan noted that the company "is in the final stretches of finalizing" it.

In other news, eCobalt hired Mark Kockler to be the mine manager of the Idaho Cobalt Project. With more than 23 years of industry experience, Kockler most recently worked as the operations liaison manager and technical services superintendent at Goldcorp's Cerro Negro. His resumé also includes positions at Barrick Gold Corp., Newmont Mining Corp., Mines Management Inc., Idaho General Mines Inc. and Placer Dome Inc., among others.
